Canadian-backed investment firm enters Indian sports with TPL franchise; Season 7 sees infusion of global capital and tennis legacy.

New Delhi, August 5, 2025: Hygiia Ventures, a Canada-backed investment firm led by entrepreneur Gaurav Agarwal, has officially acquired the Gurgaon Grand Slammers franchise in the Tennis Premier League (TPL), ahead of its much-anticipated Season 7. Strengthening the team’s positioning, tennis icon Sania Mirza has been announced as the brand ambassador for the franchise.

With this acquisition, Hygiia Ventures becomes the latest international entrant into the TPL ecosystem, further validating the league’s stature as one of India’s fastest-growing sporting properties. TPL is now among an elite group of Indian sports leagues to enter its seventh consecutive season, following the likes of the IPL and PKL.
