Campaign sets Asia and India Book of Records for world’s first dual-city solar-powered radio broadcast, reaching over 2.91 crore listeners
National, September 1, 2025: BIG FM, one of India’s leading radio networks, has partnered with the Adani Group to launch its pioneering campaign ‘Story of Suraj’, a nationwide initiative spotlighting the transformative power of solar energy. Designed as a 360-degree engagement spanning radio, digital, and on-ground activations across 39 cities, the campaign encouraged communities to embrace sustainability while setting industry-first benchmarks.
The campaign opened with a nationwide radio content roadblock, where over 80 RJs created 250+ content pieces, reaching 2.91 crore listeners on radio. Digitally, the impact extended further, generating over 21 million impressions across BIG Live and RJ-led social media platforms. This combination of reach and engagement made solar energy conversations both relatable and actionable for audiences.
Making history, BIG FM and Adani Group executed the world’s first dual-city solar-powered live radio broadcast from Delhi and Pune. Both studios ran entirely on solar energy without relying on the power grid or diesel support—an achievement that earned recognition in the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.
On-ground activations added further depth, with solar-powered studios, music sessions, and pledge walls across Delhi, Pune, Modhera, Indore, and Lucknow. The Solar Rooftop Studio Shift initiative highlighted the real-life impact of solar beneficiaries, while the campaign’s milestone moment came from Modhera Gram Panchayat—India’s first fully solar-powered village—where BIG FM went live to celebrate its renewable energy journey.
