Divar Island, August 24, 2025 – The island of Divar erupted in colour, rhythm, and festivity as thousands gathered to mark the 41st edition of Bonderam, one of Goa’s most celebrated monsoon festivals. Organized by the Piedade Youth Association with the support of the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, and the Directorate of Art & Culture, the festival showcased Divar’s distinctive traditions while infusing youthful energy and creative flair.
The festivities were inaugurated in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte as Chief Guest, MLA Cumbarjua, Shri Rajesh Faldessai as Guest of Honour, MLA Curtorim, Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, clergy representatives, village leaders, and dignitaries including Varun Albuquerque, Director, Alcon Victor Group.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte noted:
> “Bonderam is a living example of Goa’s vibrant traditions celebrated with youthful energy. Festivals like these not only preserve our heritage but also strengthen community bonds while drawing tourists to experience Goa beyond beaches.”
Echoing the sentiment, Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, added:
> “The enthusiasm witnessed at Bonderam reflects the true spirit of community-led celebrations. The Department of Tourism is committed to supporting festivals that highlight Goa’s culture, promote regenerative tourism, and offer visitors an authentic glimpse of local traditions.”
The celebrations began at dawn with the Alvorada, where a brass band marched across Divar, awakening the island with music. The afternoon’s Traditional Flag March at Divar Center revived the festival’s historic spirit of unity, while the All-Goa Fancy Dress Competition at Asilo Grounds entertained audiences with humour, creativity, and flair.
The float parade, a highlight of Bonderam, transformed Divar’s streets into a carnival of colours and imagination, drawing applause from residents and visitors alike. As evening fell, the energy escalated with electrifying live performances by Junktion, 24K India, and headliner Ryan Nogar, hosted by Ayesha Barretto and Joed Almeida, turning the island into a stage for music, dance, and revelry.
With community participation, artistic expression, and cultural pride on full display, Bonderam 2025 reaffirmed its place as one of Goa’s most iconic and eagerly awaited monsoon festivals, strengthening its reputation as a celebration that blends heritage with contemporary vibrancy.
