
Ferrero India Achieves 28% Plastic Footprint Reduction and 59% Water Intensity Cut Since 2019
LUXEMBOURG/INDIA, July 25, 2025: Ferrero Group has released its 16th Sustainability Report, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsible growth amid global challenges. The report details significant progress across key priorities, including climate action, responsible sourcing, packaging innovation, and community development.

Key Global Sustainability Milestones
Traceability Leadership
Over 90% of key ingredients mapped to origin, with 97% traceability for cocoa and palm oil and 94% for hazelnuts, supported by partnerships with Sourcemap and Starling.
Climate Action
21.7% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions compared to the 2017/18 baseline.
90% of manufacturing and warehousing electricity sourced from renewables.
Advanced carbon accounting with disaggregated Scope 3 FLAG (Forest, Land, and Agriculture) emissions.
Sustainable Packaging
92.1% of packaging designed for recyclability.
13% reduction in plastic-to-product ratio, including Ferrero Rocher’s switch from polystyrene to polypropylene, saving 11,000 tonnes of plastic.
Launch of Nutella Plant-Based in recycled glass jars and Kinder Joy’s paper spoon.
Food Quality & Nutrition
100% Ferrero plants certified against the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Standard.
85% of products have a serving size of 130 kcal or less; 91% under 150 kcal.
Community Empowerment
Ongoing collaborations with the ILO and Save the Children to support sourcing communities.
Kinder Joy of Moving reached 3.7 million children in 35 countries, with investments exceeding €13 million.
New partnership with the Organization of American States (OAS) to promote inclusion and equity through sports in the Americas.
Sustainability Progress in India
Ferrero India achieved significant milestones aligned with global goals:
97.95% of packaging is recyclable, reusable, or compostable.
28% reduction in plastic footprint compared to 2020/21.
4651 tons of carbon emissions reduced in 2024/25.
59.41% reduction in water intensity since 2019/20, with a 14.64% drop compared to 2022/23.
Solar panel installation covering 30,000 sqm, catering to 13% of the factory load and saving 2050 tons of CO₂ annually.
Kinder Joy of Moving (KJOM) active in Maharashtra, engaging 14,000+ children in sports and physical activities.
Ferrero continues its journey toward its 2030 goal of halving greenhouse gas emissions, driving collective action for a sustainable future while ensuring product quality and community well-being.
