HSBC India joins as key partner to promote Rugby Sevens in India as the league prepares for its inaugural edition in Mumbai
Mumbai, 15 June 2025: The inaugural season of the GMR Rugby Premier League (GMR RPL) has secured a significant partnership as HSBC India comes onboard as the Powered By partner. Organised jointly by Rugby India and GMR Sports, this first-of-its-kind franchise-based Rugby Sevens tournament will be held in Mumbai at the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex (Andheri Sports Complex) from 15 June to 29 June 2025.
The collaboration between HSBC India and GMR RPL highlights their shared commitment to expanding the reach of Rugby Sevens in India and across global audiences. The league’s Title Partner is GMR.

About the Tournament
GMR RPL Season 1 will feature 34 matches over two weeks, with participation from 30 marquee international players representing rugby powerhouses like New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Fiji, Argentina, Great Britain, Ireland, USA, and Spain. The league will also see 18 international players from Canada, Hong Kong, and Germany, alongside 30 Indian players, enriching the competition.
