Under Goa AI Mission 2027, Government Outlines Bold Vision for AI Innovation, Skilling, and Policy Leadership
Porvorim, August 5, 2025:
In a significant step toward becoming a hub for artificial intelligence in South Asia, the Government of Goa has unveiled its strategic roadmap under the Goa AI Mission 2027. Spearheaded by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and led by Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, the mission is set to revolutionize governance, innovation, and industry through structured AI adoption.

The mission rests on four foundational pillars—Skilling, Startups & Companies, Capital, and Government Policy & Infrastructure—aimed at building an inclusive and future-ready AI ecosystem that empowers citizens, academia, and industry stakeholders alike.
A key highlight of the initiative is the formation of the Goa AI Mission Council, which will oversee the drafting of a comprehensive AI Policy and chart the state’s long-term AI vision. To ensure operational agility, a Section 8 company has also been proposed, providing the mission with a formal legal framework for execution and scalability.
“We are in the process of setting up Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and AI Labs across the state to facilitate research, innovation, and capacity building,” said Minister Khaunte. “An Advisory Committee under the AI Mission Council will be established to steer implementation and foster public-private collaboration.”
Marking the beginning of AI integration in governance, the launch of an AI-powered chatbot has been announced as the first step toward delivering smart, efficient, and citizen-centric public services.
