Domestic and international arrivals surge as strategic promotions, infrastructure upgrades, and diverse travel experiences fuel growth
Panaji, July 19, 2025 – Goa has witnessed an unprecedented tourism boom in the first half of 2025, attracting over 54.55 lakh visitors between January and June, reaffirming its position as one of India’s most sought-after travel destinations.
According to the Department of Tourism, the surge includes 51.84 lakh domestic tourists and 2.71 lakh international travellers, with January emerging as the busiest month, registering 10.56 lakh visitors. February and March followed closely, welcoming 9.05 lakh and 8.89 lakh tourists, respectively.
Even during the typically quieter summer months, footfalls remained strong. April saw 8.42 lakh arrivals, May recorded 9.27 lakh, and June welcomed 8.34 lakh visitors, demonstrating consistent demand despite the heat.
Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, credited the growth to multi-pronged strategies, including intensive promotional campaigns in key source markets, participation in major travel trade exhibitions, and the launch of ‘Regenerative Tourism’ initiatives. These efforts have broadened Goa’s appeal beyond its beaches, highlighting hinterland trails, heritage walks, spiritual circuits, and wellness retreats.
The state’s presence at national and international tourism fairs, along with large-scale festivals, cultural events, and sports activities, has attracted a diverse mix of travellers. Improved flight connectivity, especially from the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia, combined with upgraded infrastructure such as enhanced airport facilities and new hospitality options, has further boosted tourism.
With the monsoon season underway and a vibrant calendar of festivals ahead, the Department of Tourism expects the upward trend to continue in the second half of 2025, cementing Goa’s reputation as a dynamic and evolving travel hub.
