BCCI confirms revised schedule with 17 matches across six venues; RCB to face CSK in opening clash post-resumption
Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025 season from May 17, with the final scheduled to be played on June 3.
The league was suspended on May 8 after the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off due to a security incident involving an attempted airspace intrusion by Pakistan near Chandigarh, which led to a stadium blackout.
In a statement, the BCCI said, “After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season.”
The first match following the restart will be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings in Bengaluru on May 17.
According to the revised schedule, matches will be hosted across six venues: Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. The venues for the playoff games will be announced at a later stage.
A total of 17 matches will be played, including two double-headers slated for two Sundays during the remainder of the season.
