Vijayi Bharat Foundation’s flagship grassroots league engages over 7,000 young athletes across Sanand, fostering inclusivity and empowerment through sport
Ahmedabad, September 18, 2025: After two successful editions, Khele Sanand Season 3, the flagship grassroots sports league by Vijayi Bharat Foundation, has returned with greater scale, new venues, and a mission to empower more than 7,000 young athletes across Sanand Taluka.
The season was inaugurated at Sanskardham Campus with a vibrant opening ceremony led by international Kho Kho players Pratik Waikar and Nirmala Bhati, who lauded the league’s growing role in youth development and community engagement.
In just two years, Khele Sanand has evolved into a powerful platform for nurturing rural sporting talent. From engaging over 2,500 students across 90 schools in indigenous sports like Kabaddi, Kho Kho, and Volleyball in its first editions, the league has now expanded to 120+ schools and registered a sharp rise in participation, including a 400% surge in girls’ Kho Kho participation and a 39% increase in team registrations during Khel Mahakumbh.
Season 3 continues this momentum with:
New venues and expanded formats for inclusive participation
Enhanced coaching facilities for skill-building
A grand finale in April 2026 celebrating not only winners but the spirit of teamwork and resilience
The league is powered by community strength: over 150 local volunteers take on roles ranging from coaches and referees to hospitality staff, while 20+ village Sarpanchs and several local businesses have extended support, fostering a deep sense of community ownership.
Speaking at the launch, Nirmala Bhati said:
> “Khele Sanand is not just a league, it is a movement redefining grassroots sport in Gujarat. It builds discipline, teamwork, and resilience while giving children the confidence to dream beyond local boundaries.”
Pratik Waikar added:
> “This league is more than competition—it is a catalyst for ambition and unity. It instills pride in traditional sports while giving rural and urban youth a structured, professional platform to shine.”
With its third edition, Khele Sanand reaffirms its mission to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, ensuring grassroots sports become a true vehicle of empowerment for Gujarat’s next generation.
