Produced by Banijay Asia and directed by Umesh Bist, the new season premieres on JioHotstar from September 19, 2025
Mumbai, August 22, 2025: The trailer for The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha Season 2 has been unveiled, promising a high-octane return of Kajol as Noyonika Sengupta. Streaming exclusively on JioHotstar from September 19, the upcoming season raises the emotional and narrative stakes with a blend of courtroom drama, personal conflicts, and power struggles.
Building on her transformation in Season 1 from a homemaker to a determined lawyer and mother, Noyonika now faces deeper challenges. Her husband Rajiv’s rising political career threatens family bonds, her law firm is riddled with rivalries, and a love triangle complicates her choices. Season 2 positions her at a crossroads between love and law, trust and truth, as she fights for her identity and independence.
The series features a powerhouse ensemble including Jisshu Sengupta, Sonali Kulkarni, Sheeba Chaddha, Alyy Khan, Kubbra Sait, Gaurav Pandey, and Karanvir Sharma.
Kajol, reflecting on her role, said, “This season is darker, deeper, and far more personal. Noyonika isn’t just fighting legal battles; she’s trying to hold her world together. It’s a reckoning, and I hope viewers feel every bit of the storm she’s walking into.”
Director Umesh Bist added, “We wanted to raise the stakes by balancing courtroom intensity with the internal unraveling of Noyonika. The story is about power, identity, and the personal cost of standing up for oneself—especially as a woman.”
Alok Jain, JioStar, described the show as “bold, layered storytelling that is intimate in emotion, expansive in scale, and reflective of the world we live in.”Sushant Sreeram, SVOD Head & CMO, JioStar, emphasized the international appeal, calling it “a globally resonant format reimagined through India’s cultural lens.”
Deepak Dhar, Founder & Group CEO, Banijay Asia & EndemolShine India, noted, “Season 2 is not just a continuation but a bold leap forward with higher stakes, powerful performances, and gripping revelations.”
Jisshu Sengupta teased Rajiv’s arc, saying, “His ambitions and the cost of chasing them collide with his relationship with Noyonika. Their dynamic is love, regret, resentment, and vulnerability rolled into one.”
An adaptation of the U.S. hit The Good Wife, The Trial is produced by Banijay Asia, with format rights licensed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
