Mumbai, July 29, 2025: McDonald’s India (West & South) has once again teamed up with celebrated Padma Shri awardee Chef Sanjeev Kapoor to launch a new brand film showcasing its latest innovation — the Protein Plus Slice. The plant-based protein slice, co-developed with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), allows customers to personalize their burgers with added nutrition without compromising on taste.
Conceptualized by DDB Mudra, the film brings to life a lively moment at a McDonald’s counter, where Chef Kapoor interacts with a fitness enthusiast and his younger brother. The humorous exchange revolves around who can add more Protein Plus Slices to their burger, highlighting how customers of all ages can customize their protein intake.

Made entirely from vegetarian, plant-based ingredients, each Protein Plus Slice offers 5g of protein. Customers can now boost the nutritional profile of their burgers by adding multiple slices — 5g, 10g, or more — based on their dietary needs. This product innovation builds on the successful collaboration between McDonald’s and CFTRI, which previously led to the launch of the Multi-Millet Bun.

Akshay Jatia, CEO of Westlife Foodworld, said, “With the Protein Plus Range, we are empowering our customers to personalize their meals to match their protein needs. It’s a perfect synergy of taste, science, and health that aligns with our ‘Real Food, Real Good’ philosophy.”
Chef Sanjeev Kapoor added, “McDonald’s continues to impress with its innovation and sensitivity to evolving consumer needs. The Protein Plus range balances taste and nutrition, making it a genuine leap forward in personalized, healthy eating.”
Rahul Mathew, Chief Creative Officer & Executive Director, DDB Mudra Group, commented, “McDonald’s is for everyone — whether you’re a regular customer or someone with specific nutritional goals. The Protein Plus Slices make that possible.”
The campaign closes with Chef Kapoor declaring, “That’s My McDonald’s,” reinforcing the brand’s promise of flavor-packed, nutritious menu options.
The Protein Plus Range is now available across McDonald’s outlets in West and South India, via Drive-Thru, McDelivery App, and Swiggy.
