Former Disney+ Hotstar (now JioStar) engineering head to spearhead SPNI’s digital innovation and platform growth
Mumbai, June 19, 2025: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has announced the appointment of Mukund Acharya as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective immediately. Mukund will oversee SPNI’s comprehensive technology portfolio—including the Enterprise Technology Group (ETG), LIV Technology, and Broadcast Operations and Network Engineering (B.O.N.E.)—to drive the company’s digital transformation and innovation agenda across its linear and digital platforms.
Bringing nearly three decades of experience, Mukund joins SPNI from Disney+ Hotstar (now JioStar), where he served as Head of Engineering. He successfully led large-scale integrations, including the JioCinema-Hotstar app merger, and ensured seamless delivery of global sporting events like the ICC World Cups 2023, 2024, and 2025. His career spans leadership roles at Yahoo, InMobi, and other global tech giants.
Mukund will report to Gaurav Banerjee, Managing Director & CEO of SPNI, and will closely collaborate with the Sony LIV leadership team to power the platform’s next phase of growth.
