Mumbai: Nasreen Shaikh, International player & former captain of the Indian women’s kho-kho team, an Arjuna Awardee has added another feather to her cap by receiving the prestigious BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year – Changemaker Award. The award was presented by Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the International Kho Kho Federation & Kho Kho Federation of India, recognizing her dedication, skill, and role in elevating Kho Kho at both national and international levels. The honor was bestowed upon her on 17th February 2025 at the Taj Palace, New Delhi, during the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year Award night.
Her recognition comes on the heels of the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup held in Delhi, which showcased the sport’s growing global appeal and competitive spirit. With India emerging as a dominant force in the tournament, winning both the men’s and women’s World Cup, Nasreen’s success serves as a reminder of the nation’s leadership in Kho Kho and the bright future that lies ahead for its players on the world stage.

Speaking on the occasion, Nasreen expressed her gratitude, stating: “Kho Kho is more than just a sport to me—it’s a passion that has shaped my life.
