Initiative to benefit over 5,000 students with technology-enabled learning environments across Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, September 1, 2025: Reinforcing its commitment to digital inclusion and future-ready education, OPPO India has joined hands with the Department of Basic Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Ummeed NGO to set up smart classrooms in 44 government primary schools by March 2026. The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 5,000 students, while more than 80 teachers will also be trained to integrate technology into classroom teaching.
The programme, designed to bridge learning gaps and promote digital literacy, will bring computers, laptops, interactive smart TVs, curated digital content, and dedicated digital classrooms to schools in five districts—Lucknow (10 schools), Ayodhya (10), Varanasi (10), Gorakhpur (8), and Agra (6). In addition to digital infrastructure, motivational sessions for students and parents will also be organized to encourage greater participation in the learning process.
The first smart classroom under this initiative was inaugurated at Primary School, Bhaja Kheda, Lucknow, in the presence of Shri Deepak Kumar, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Basic and Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh. Distinguished guests included Shri Awanish K Awasthi, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; Shri Rakesh Bhardwaj, Director, OPPO India; Dr. Roshan Jacob, IAS Divisional Commissioner and Competent Authority, Lucknow; along with senior officials from the state government and Ummeed NGO.
Speaking at the launch, Shri Deepak Kumar said: “The state government is making significant strides in the education sector. Recent ASER reports reflect improvements in children’s learning outcomes, and initiatives like NIPUN Bharat and Operation Kayakalp are driving progress through smart classrooms and infrastructure development. We thank OPPO India for their support in providing 44 Smart Classes, which will further strengthen children’s academic learning through ICT and peer-based engagement. With collective support, schools will also be equipped with Atal Tinkering Labs in the near future.”
Highlighting OPPO India’s role, Mr. Rakesh Bhardwaj, Director, OPPO India, added: “At OPPO India, we believe technology is a powerful enabler of opportunity. Building on our ongoing collaborations, including Atal Tinkering Laboratories, this partnership with the Uttar Pradesh Education Board reinforces our vision of nurturing future-ready skills. Through smart classrooms, we aim to inspire students to realize their potential, while promoting digital inclusion, knowledge-sharing, and improved learning outcomes.”
The programme’s curriculum combines academic content with interactive and project-based methods, ensuring holistic development by fostering both educational excellence and practical life skills.
