Third Eye Distillery’s bold, 100% India-aged expression wins prestigious recognition, becoming the first non-single malt whisky from India to earn Gold at the competition.
Mumbai, August 8, 2025: Otherside Subcontinental Whiskey, the latest innovation from Third Eye Distillery, has been awarded a coveted Gold Medal at The Spirits Business’ World Whisky Masters 2025. This accolade celebrates the brand’s trailblazing approach to whisky-making, redefining India’s place in the global whisky conversation.
Launched earlier this year, Otherside is crafted exclusively from malts that are 100% blended and aged in India, embodying a tropical, terroir-driven character unique to the region. The whisky undergoes full maturation in India’s year-round heat and humidity, before being finished in charred ex-bourbon barrels using the Solera process. The result is a robust, vibrant profile with a lingering, gently peated finish — a true product of its provenance.
Since introducing Stranger & Sons Gin in 2018, Third Eye Distillery has built a reputation for pushing boundaries, creating premium spirits rooted in place, process, and purpose. With Otherside, the distillery entered the whisky category with the intent to spark a broader conversation about what Indian whisky can be.
> “India is one of the world’s largest whisky markets, but much of the category still echoes the early days of gin — dominated by legacy brands and familiar profiles,” said Rahul Mehra, Co-Founder & CEO of Third Eye Distillery. “With Otherside, we wanted to present a bold, homegrown perspective shaped by India’s terrain, climate, and creative spirit. Rather than emulate Scotch-style expressions, we created a whisky with malts aged entirely in India. Having that vision recognised on a global platform is deeply rewarding — not just for the liquid, but for what it represents.”
This win marks a category-first for India: Otherside is the first and only non-single malt whisky from India to claim Gold at the World Whisky Masters. The achievement broadens the way Indian whisky is perceived and celebrated internationally.
Third Eye Distillery’s accolades extend beyond whisky. Stranger & Sons Gin was named Gin of the Year 2023 by The Whisky Exchange, following its Gold Outstanding award at the IWSC UK in 2020. In 2023, the distillery also secured multiple medals at the Asian Spirits Masters, including two Master Medals for Trading Tides Gin and Short Story Vodka.
Currently available in Mumbai and Goa, Otherside Whiskey is set for wider rollouts in the coming months, signalling the start of a new chapter for India’s whisky story.
