Through technical, digital, sports, and entrepreneurial training, Vedanta Sesa Goa is bridging India’s skill gap and preparing youth for a future-ready economy.

Mumbai/Goa, July 15, 2025: As India moves towards its ambitious goal of becoming a $7 trillion economy by 2030, the demand for a highly skilled workforce is critical. In alignment with the National Policy on Skill Development, which aims to skill over 500 million individuals, Vedanta Sesa Goa has emerged as a leading contributor by skilling more than 1 lakh youth across diverse streams including technical, digital, sports, and entrepreneurial domains.
The India Skills Report 2025—a joint effort by Wheebox ETS, CII, Taggd, AICTE, and AIU—reveals a 7% rise in employability among Indian graduates this year, reaching 54.81% in 2025, compared to 51.25% in 2024. With 65% of India’s population under 35, the highest employability lies in the 22–25 age group, making youth skilling an urgent priority.
Since its establishment in 1994, the Sesa Technical School (STS) in Goa has created an industry-ready workforce, maintaining a near 100% placement record with over 2,000 technically qualified graduates contributing to India’s manufacturing and economic growth. To promote inclusivity, STS has introduced specialized courses for women such as the Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) program and offers scholarships to encourage their participation. Recently, short-term vocational training programs have also been launched, projected to skill 1,000 youth over the next three years.
Commenting on the company’s efforts, Mr. Navin Jaju, CEO, Sesa Goa, stated:“For a rapidly evolving and progressive India, a skilled workforce is essential to achieve the aims of #ViksitBharat. At Vedanta Sesa Goa, we prioritize technical, digital, sports, and vocational training as part of our core philosophy of meaningfully giving back to society. Our initiatives such as the Sesa Technical School, Sesa Football Academy, Vedanta Computer Centres, and Tailoring Centres have together skilled over 1 lakh youth since 2018.”
Digital skilling remains a central focus. Since 2018, 8 Vedanta Computer Centres and 18 Vedanta Computer Labs have digitally enabled over 80,000 students, bridging the digital divide in line with the World Youth Skills Day 2025 theme: “Youth Skills for the Digital Era.”
The Sesa Football Academy (SFA) in Goa has also emerged as a major talent hub, producing 230+ graduates, with 11 players representing India at the international level. The Vedanta Women’s League has significantly advanced women’s football in Goa, offering a platform to over 1,400 women players.
Further, entrepreneurial skills development under Project Jeevika and placement-linked skill training programs have provided pathways to self-employment and career growth for youth in Goa’s mining belt and beyond.
Chief Guest Mr. Pradip Sarmokadam, Member Secretary of the Goa State Biodiversity Board, praised these efforts during a recent STS visit, noting, “Upskilling is essential for self-confidence and sustainable livelihoods, and STS & SFA have played a pivotal role in transforming the lives of rural youth.”
