Lead Entertainment Ad Sales Strategy for JioStar
Mumbai: Shubhra Sethi has been named Head of Entertainment Ad Sales Strategy at JioStar, tasked with driving monetization strategies across TV and digital platforms. With over 20 years of experience in revenue generation and business strategy, Sethi has a proven track record of achieving substantial growth for major brands.
At Disney-Star, she was instrumental in shaping the monetization plan for the Indian Premier League (IPL), delivering remarkable revenue growth over five years. Her expertise extends to strategic business planning, product development, B2B marketing, and data analytics, with a focus on scaling ad sales across entertainment verticals.
As EVP and Head of Product, Revenue Strategy, and Customer Marketing for Sports at Disney-Star, Sethi managed revenue for properties like IPL, Pro-Kabaddi League, and the Indian Super League. She also cultivated partnerships with leading agencies and clients in sectors such as telecom, FMCG, and e-commerce.
Sethi will report to Ajit Varghese, Head of Revenue, Entertainment, and International at JioStar in her new role. Her appointment follows the creation of a Rs 70,352 crore (US$8.5 billion) joint venture between Reliance Industries, Viacom18 Media, and The Walt Disney Company.
The JV, which merges media assets from Viacom18, JioCinema, and Star India, represents one of India’s largest media entities. Operating over 100 TV channels and producing 30,000+ hours of content annually, it reaches a digital subscriber base exceeding 50 million. This collaboration sees RIL holding a 56% stake, with Disney and Viacom18 contributing 36.84% and 46.82%, respectively.
