India’s only professional tennis league brings international stars and top Indian players to Gujarat University Tennis Stadium, December 9–14
Ahmedabad, September 1, 2025: The Tennis Premier League (TPL), India’s only professional tennis league sanctioned by the All India Tennis Association (AITA), is set to host its milestone 7th season from December 9 to 14, 2025, at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad. Marking its first-ever edition outside Maharashtra, the move cements TPL as the fourth sporting league in India to reach the seven-season milestone.
The league’s eight franchises are backed by icons including Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, Mahesh Bhupathi, Rakul Preet Singh, and Sonali Bendre. Season 7 will feature international players ranked between 30 and 50 in the ATP rankings, alongside India’s finest talent such as two-time Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna. Known for its unique 25-point format, TPL has built a reputation for delivering fast-paced, high-energy tennis that resonates with audiences across India and globally.
Ahmedabad’s rise as a premier sporting hub makes it a fitting host for this landmark season. TPL has already strengthened its grassroots presence in Gujarat through collaborations with the Gujarat State Tennis Association, conducting tournaments across age groups and supporting emerging players with Race to Gold Scholarships via the TPL App.
Expressing his excitement, Kunal Thakkur, Co-Founder, TPL, said: “We are delighted to bring TPL to Gujarat for the very first time. The city’s energy, infrastructure, and passion for sports make it an ideal host. Season 7 promises to be a special edition, delivering world-class tennis action for fans in Ahmedabad.”
Mrunal Jain, Co-Founder, TPL, added: “The Gujarat University Tennis Stadium offers excellent facilities, and expanding into newer markets like Ahmedabad allows us to give fans across India a closer experience of top-tier tennis.”
Shrimal Bhatt, Hon. Secretary, Gujarat State Tennis Association, commented:“For the first time in the history of Gujarat, top-level ATP-ranked players between 30 and 50 are coming to our state. This will be a real shot in the arm for tennis in Gujarat.”
Since inception, TPL has stood out for its dual model—showcasing elite-level tennis while nurturing grassroots talent. With a presence across more than 20 cities and over 400 grassroots tournaments in a year, the league continues to serve as a crucial platform for India’s emerging players.
