Partnership with Indian Railways aims to enhance multimodal mobility and seamless passenger connectivity
National, September 23, 2025 – Uber, India’s leading ride-hailing platform, today announced its first-ever railway station integrations in India at Ahmedabad Railway Station and Howrah Railway Station, in partnership with Indian Railways. The collaboration is designed to improve passenger mobility, streamline pickups, and provide dedicated support infrastructure at two of India’s busiest transport hubs.
Ahmedabad Railway Station, ranked as the 7th largest in India, serves over 1.2 lakh passengers daily, with capacity projected to reach 3 lakh by 2053. Howrah Railway Station, a crucial gateway to Eastern India, accommodates more than 10 lakh passengers daily, making it one of the country’s largest transportation hubs.
> “Our exclusive collaboration with Indian Railways at Ahmedabad and Howrah Railway Stations is a step forward in strengthening urban mobility infrastructure and ensuring reliable connectivity for millions of travellers,” said Shiva Shailendran, Director of Consumer Growth & Categories, Uber India & South Asia. “By integrating Uber’s technology with key public transport hubs, we are building a seamless, multimodal transportation ecosystem that simplifies how people move across cities.”
To enhance passenger experience, Uber has established dedicated parking areas and kiosks directly connected to station infrastructure. In Ahmedabad, the parking zone is linked to the station’s main foot-over bridge, while Howrah features designated kiosks and on-ground support teams to assist passengers and drivers throughout the journey.
The integration also benefits Uber drivers, offering increased trip opportunities at high-traffic stations and enhancing overall earning potential. By combining well-planned infrastructure with real-time assistance, Uber aims to deliver a convenient, reliable, and stress-free mobility experience for railway passengers.
