The initiative, supported by FSSAI, aims to train thousands of food handlers on hygiene, compliance, and safe delivery practices.
Mumbai, September 9, 2025: Zepto, India’s fastest-growing quick commerce company, has launched Zepto Sankalp, a dedicated food safety initiative focused on training its last-mile delivery partners and pickers in critical food handling practices. The programme underscores Zepto’s commitment to building trust through quality and safety in every order.
The inaugural training session was conducted at The Rangaswar Hall, Yashwantrao Chavan Center, Nariman Point, and brought together hundreds of food handlers from Zepto’s Mumbai operations. The session was led by Chinmayee Deulgaonkar, Managing Director, Food Chain ID India, and Sumedha Jalgaonkar, Consultant, Auditor, and Trainer in food safety systems.
The training covered key aspects of food safety, including hygiene protocols, safe storage temperatures, and compliance with regulatory standards to ensure secure delivery of essentials.
Vikas Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, Zepto, said,
> “At Zepto, trust is built on the assurance of quality and safety in every order we deliver. We are grateful to FSSAI for supporting this initiative and empowering our food handlers. This programme is a vital step towards ensuring that every Zepto user receives their order in the safest possible manner.”
The session was graced by Pritee Chaudhary, IRS, Regional Director, FSSAI, Western Region, who addressed participants and highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in food safety.
> “Ensuring food safety is a collective responsibility. Initiatives like Zepto Sankalp bridge the gap between regulation and execution by equipping food handlers with the right knowledge and practices,” she said.
Zepto has already trained over 10,000 food handlers nationwide, with more than 2,500 achieving FOSTAC certification. Backed by internal audit systems, inspections, and collaboration with regulatory authorities, Zepto continues to embed food safety into its operations from sourcing and storage to last-mile delivery.
Through Zepto Sankalp, the company aims to set new benchmarks in quick commerce by reinforcing compliance, innovation, and customer trust.
