Focus on hardware, IoT, packaging, and sustainable manufacturing with a six-month startup programme

Bangalore, August 12, 2025 – The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zepto Private Limited to nurture and scale early-stage startups in the manufacturing sector through the ‘Zepto Nova’ innovation challenge.
The collaboration will run a focused six-month programme to identify and mentor startups innovating in hardware, IoT, packaging, and sustainable manufacturing. The initiative will help startups move from prototype to market-ready solutions by leveraging Zepto’s delivery network and digital infrastructure.
Startups, particularly women-led and those from Tier II and Tier III cities, will receive mentorship, capacity building through expert-led workshops, and Startup India assistance. Zepto also plans to onboard over 100 Indian startups into its supply chain, enabling them to showcase products, access new markets, and expand their presence.
Speaking on the partnership, DPIIT Joint Secretary Shri Sanjiv said, “Support from unicorns is one of the most impactful ways to uplift startups, enabling them to learn from the journey of successful ventures. It is both an opportunity and a responsibility for unicorns to contribute to the ecosystem, with market access being a critical success factor.”
Zepto Co-founder Mr. Kaivalya Vohra added, “At Zepto, we believe that giving back to the ecosystem is not just a responsibility—it’s a privilege. Through Zepto Nova, we’re proud to support India-first innovation by empowering startups shaping the future of manufacturing. This partnership with DPIIT demonstrates what’s possible when public and private sectors unite to accelerate scale, speed, and sustainability.”
The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, and Mr. Kaivalya Vohra, Co-founder, Zepto. It forms part of DPIIT’s larger mission to drive rapid innovation, inclusive economic growth, and a self-reliant India.
