Young talent invited to develop innovative programs for DD News, DD National, and AIR platforms under new initiative
Mumbai: Prasar Bharati has invited program proposals from “Creative Minds of Tomorrow” (CMOT), a unique talent initiative launched by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). This call for content is part of an effort to create high-quality, engaging programs across Prasar Bharati’s digital and broadcast platforms, in celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at the 2021 International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Under the Commissioning Mode, applications are open for program proposals targeting DD News, DD National, and All India Radio (AIR). This collaboration seeks to harness young talents’ creative skills to produce visually captivating and informative content, focusing on government initiatives, India’s cultural heritage, and current topics of interest to modern viewers, especially Gen Z.
Prasar Bharati has outlined a total of 32 program concepts under this initiative:
- DD News: 13 bi-monthly documentaries will cover themes like climate change, sustainable development, India’s cultural legacy, and current national and global affairs, designed to present information through relatable, engaging storytelling.
- DD National: 12 programs across genres, including adventure travel, reality competitions, traditional cooking, and musical productions, aim to highlight India’s rich cultural diversity and offer varied content for all age groups.
- AIR: 7 radio programs will focus on themes like storytelling, folklore, rural innovations, and inspirational stories.
Each program has a production budget of Rs 5 lakhs, covering costs such as scripting, research, filming, editing, and post-production. Additional funding of Rs 50,000 per language per episode will be available for programs with more than two episodes. Programs adaptable to radio will receive further funding in line with CBC rate card standards, allowing for content repurposing on AIR and extending reach to audio audiences.
All proposals will follow the guidelines in Chapter-2 of the Content Sourcing Policy 2024. Program assignments will be awarded on a “first come-first serve” basis, contingent on meeting the platform-specific content needs.
