The design duo’s latest campaign blurs the line between costume and couture through a nostalgic, story-driven lens

New Delhi, June 2025: Renowned designers Rimple & Harpreet have launched their latest campaign, Muse in the Studio, an evocative cinematic story starring actor Wamiqa Gabbi. Styled by Rimple Narula, the campaign explores themes of solitude, identity, and love through the eyes of Mrs. Geetha Rai, a fictional 1960s diplomat’s wife navigating the tension between societal expectations and personal longing.
Known for their iconic costume designs in period epics like Padmaavat, Heeramandi, and the upcoming Ramayana, Rimple & Harpreet bring their signature cinematic language into an intimate, introspective setting. Set in an artist’s studio imagined as a sanctuary of longing, Mrs. Rai moves through moments of reflection, touching artefacts, trying on garments, and slipping between memories of neglect and quiet awakening.

“With this story, we wanted to blur the line between costume and couture—to clothe not just a character, but her memories, her longing, her quiet rebellion,” said Rimple Narula, Designer & Co-Founder of Rimple & Harpreet. “Wamiqa embodied Mrs. Geetha Rai with such grace and vulnerability, allowing the garments to become echoes of her inner world.”
Gabbi added, “Stepping into the world of Mrs. Geetha Rai was like slipping into a forgotten memory—delicate, layered, and full of longing. Every look told its own story, and I felt deeply connected to her quiet strength and vulnerability.”
The wardrobe bridges eras and aesthetics with sequined saris, European lace-inspired lehengas, hand-embroidered jackets, and vintage Victorian accessories. By layering archival Rimple & Harpreet pieces with new designs, each look feels historically rooted yet emotionally resonant.
Shot in shafts of golden sunlight, the mise-en-scène features Victorian dressers, dramatic partitions, oil paintings, and an eclectic blend of old-world charm and studio clutter, crafting a rich, symbolic backdrop for Mrs. Rai’s emotional journey.
‘Muse in the Studio’ reaffirms Rimple & Harpreet’s mastery in transforming fashion into storytelling—where every thread holds a tale, and every look carries a world within it.
